that shut down interstate 40 joust outside oklahoma city. texas got a double dose of bad weather, a 25-year-old man was killed near houston after a tree fell on his pickup. snow covered the ground in long view and turned dallas into a winter wonderland and blizzard warnings stretched from arkansas to pennsylvania. turning to mobile, alabama, windows were shattered and cars tossed off streets as this tornado touched down. >> oh my god, we need to go. it's right there. >> that's scary. several buildings damaged and several car accidents were blamed on the storm but no reports of serious injuries. emergency management officials tell cnn power has been restored to many customers, just over 7,000 in the dark, down from 23,000 last night. we head to mobile, christina leavenworth of w.e.a.r. in just about an hour weather officials will assess damage. christina, what are you hearing so far? >> reporter: good morning, carol. we are seeing a lot of damage here and it's widespread. the national weather service is saying the tornado touched down in five different locations, one of them here at murphy h

the system. it sure has. scranton at 26. below freezing in new york city at 31. just to let you know, it's not over yet. a brand new storm system set up these winter weather advisories for pennsylvania and into new york, washington, d.c., and the mountains of virginia. you can see also ohio slammed again after so much snow from the first system. so the way it's going to play out, saturday into sunday, this system is likely going to bring heavier snow to areas of northern pennsylvania in terms of snowfall totals. it's not going to be as big of a snowmaker or a blizzard maker from what we saw last time, but it will produce strong snowfall through central connecticut and rhode island. new england, you know winters can be long. winter is not officially -- is officially here, we are looking at a slamming start to the season. across the southeast, temperatures are also very cold. we have not warmed up in atlanta. we're at 31 degrees. the moisture coming into the south will come in at a time where temperatures are likely to be milder. we are not looking at snow accumulation in the south if that

and it's colder behind this storm system across the midwest, 20 in minneapolis and teens in rapid city. we have another storm we're tracking as it heads eastbound the next couple days. our current snowstorm producing more snow across maine. reports of over a foot across the many areas in new england and that snow still coming down. coastal areas dealing with rainfall an winds over 30, 40 miles an hour especially overnight. i her the wind howling. we have winter storm warnings for upstate new york, vermont, new hampshire and maine. and many of these warnings are in effect until early tomorrow morning because that wind, even after the snow is done, the wind will continue to blow snow around and produce white house in -- whiteout conditions. many places over a foot of snow on top of what we have on the ground. we're looking at another storm impact thing the midwest and areas hit hard by tornadoes. the storm system had severe weather with it, unusual for december in alabama, mississippi and the next storm is going to produce thunderstorms and areas of rain and basically heading northeast,

free. bob in rapid city, south dakota, republican caller. caller: whee are a right-to- work state. in the past week we had an article in the newspaper that we are 16th in the nation in income. we averaged 44,000. where is the nation averages 41,000. so it's just not true that a right-to-work state means lower income. our unemployment rate is around 5% or 5.2. host: 4.5%, according to this washington times piece this morning. caller: our union membership in the state is 5.6%. so it is not very high. we have three of the poorest counties in the country, and south dakota, also. those are primarily indian reservations. without those numbers pulling the numbers down, we would be even higher than that. desk because you are a right-to- work state does not mean you are giving up anything in the labor force. -- just because. host: in north dakota the natural gas and oil industry has really boomed in the last few years. is that the case in south dakota? caller: we get a little bit of that, particularly in western south dakota, because it flows into the northwestern part of the state. we are
